Gualtiero Marchesi, a swimming pool repairman, is divorced from his wife Ramona, who lives with a new companion, and he has a 15 year-old daughter named Martina. One evening, for fun, he organises a spiritualist session with some friends, trying to make contact with Marilyn Monroe. After the session, though no one believes him, Marilyn becomes a very real part of his life.
