Tripwire is a tense, action packed thriller that follows Christine, a photo journalist as she accompanies a squad of British soldiers on a routine patrol in Kosovo, Christmas day 1998.
However, nothing is as it seems. Our journalist is actually an undercover UN investigator probing allegations that this unit murdered a Bosnian family. Aware that this tightly knit group are extremely loyal to each other she needs to get a sense of how many were involved before confronting them officially.
Her plans quickly spiral out of control when the group are lured into a booby-trapped farmyard and pinned down by a sniper. As the casualties pile up they must work together to escape... but whom can you trust?
Tripwire is an unashamedly genre piece. The pressure is on from the opening of the film, the suspense rapidly building as we sense our characters are approaching a dreadful situation. As explored in Hurt Locker, the depth of the characters and the way each deals with fear and the need for survival ensures Tripwire’s crossover appeal.
