Bernarda is an adaptation of the play "The House of Bernarda Alba" by Federico Garcia Lorca. Five women are kidnapped and locked in a strange factory and forced to work as prostitutes. Bernarda, who has a strange relationship with her maid, Poncia, thinks that this way she redeems them and frees them from the evils of the world.Bernarda represents oppression and tyranny, while her sister Maria Josepha symbolizes freedom.
