Synopsis
WOH LADKI HAI KAHAAN???
It’s the biggest marriage EVER in Jaipur. Gagan Agarwal the only son of the super nouveau rich ‘Masala Magnate’ Shrichand Agarwal, owner of Rattan Masala’s (Like MDH Masala’s) is getting married to Honey.
After a seven-day gala circus of a wedding where a Top Bollywood superstar comes and performs at the reception, the whole 45 crore wedding goes down the drain when Honey vanishes on the ‘Suhaag Raat’.
The Agarwal family is distraught. Shrichand feels if the world comes to know about this, not only their family but their entire Rattan Masala empire will become a laughing stock.
Which is why Srichand asks the Commissioner of police to put his best man on the case. But the best man in the police force happens to be a woman, ACP Komal Sharma! A kickass, wisecracking cop, Komal is a young and feisty feminist both rugged and sensitive, quick on her feet.
Unfortunately, Komal gets off on the wrong wicket with Gagan, the chauvinist and extremely superstitious groom who is totally under his father Shrichands thumb.
To Komal's absolute annoyance, Gagan tags along with her through her investigation, claiming that no one knows his newly missing wife better than him.
Komal and Gagan’s family are starkly different from each other. Komal is grounded and middle class. The Agarwal’s are rich, loud and garish. Their personalities, upbringing and points of view are poles apart. She is hardcore liberal feminist whilst Srichand and clan are a patriarchal but regressive orthodox lot.
This makes their interactions volatile, fun, and quite unpredictable.
They argue, fight, out-sass, and go at each other's throats, ridiculing each-others' beliefs about life, love, and the battle of the sexes, but also unknowingly questioning social norms along the way.
But eventually through an action-packed and fun investigative journey across Indore and Ujjain, Gagan and Komal come to terms with each other's different point of view. Thanks to her, he grows up and understands what it truly means to be a man who has to at some point stand upto his tyrant father Shrichand Agarwal.
And thanks to Gagan, Komal makes peace with her
fiancé Vaibhav as well as confronts the biggest secret in her closet - a strained relationship with her own estranged father.
Woh Ladki Hain Kahaan? Is an atypical buddy cop-like comedy caper, which sheds light on topical issues while never taking itself too seriously. It takes us on a madcap ride and makes us fall in love with this charmingly hysterical lot of characters and life itself.
