Synopsis
Daniel, a Scottish journalist living and working in the grimy chaos of contemporary Bucharest, is finally on the verge of moving in and settling down with Irina, a warm, genuine and ‘green’ committed architect.
Smart, alluring, Maria, the long-term girlfriend that Daniel dumped in a local bar not so long ago, now writes a story, as revenge on Daniel.
Daniel’s older, cynical friend, Alex, a writer, secretly encourages Maria to play out her story on Daniel, doing for real the facts that she wrote in her story.
To Alex’s delight, Daniel is hooked back into a wild affair with Maria that he keeps strictly secret from Irina, deluding himself that each encounter with Maria will be ‘the last’.
Alex takes perverse pleasure in writing a movie script, as first Maria, and then Daniel, confide the details of their rekindled clandestine relationship.
The script becomes real and what's real becomes the script.
Lost in the ‘fever’ that is Maria and the secret affair he barely hides from Irina, Daniel endures the maddening heat of his Unsettled Summer.
