Synopsis

We will start our journey in Beijing at the center of the city and the center of the country, on the square where Chinese family stories and the Chinese collective History is deeply mixed: Tian An Men. There every family took photos and Historical moment took place. Then we will observe the busy streets where Beijingers run after a long journey of work or after a day playing at the stock market. We will get lost in the empty destroyed courtyard area where Wang’s shot his BEIJING BICYCLE and where people used to live united per family in one house. We will stop in the suburb where old men try to keep their bird singing in friendly contest.
We will then get on a train, to go look for the other China, the one that most Chinese people come from… We will go through the countryside where dry land and earthquakes have slowly made it difficult for men to live. We will stop by factories and mine where almost all families had, at a time or another, to give their health and time. The journey will continue into Mongolia, Xinjiang, Sichuan… With all this different landscape, architecture, culture, habits, story and History slowly will be forming a unique yet fascinating China.
