Hector might have peacefully lived out his days in his home town in the Basque country, if things hadn't forced him to leave and set up home in the house of his only and somewhat distant son. But with the support of various allies, Hector manages to overcome this unwelcome change. Laura, his daughter-in-law, pushes him to reconcile himself with his son. Bruno, his grandson, finds in Hector an example of the courage he needs to face up to the bullies at school. In return, he helps him win the heart of the witty and lively Clara, who teaches Hector to believe in love, something that's been dormant in him for a very long time.
