Synopsis

Childish almost 40-year-old, fiery aspiring writer Pat (she hates Patricia) has an overwhelming and unreliable inside voice that urges her to act before her brain can stop the damage. Pat must look in the mirror and quiet this inner bully if she is to patch things up with her boyfriend Jan, a Peruvian-born musician in the midst of an identity crisis that she just rekindled with and repair the now fragile bond with her teenage daughter Flavie, whose best friend is a fake emotional support dog named Jesus. A stay at Pat’s family cabin in the middle of a Quebec winter unearths a childhood trauma that may hold the key to her salvation.

Pat, a restless yet strong woman, and each member of her pack needs to learn how to love themselves in order to love each other and move forward together : Jan has to fully embrace his roots to forge his own identity and music, Flavie must trust herself and others to leave childhood and step into the rest of her life and Pat must forgive herself to be free of the past, so she can her to truly live and love.

Blending drama, comedy, and a bit of quirkiness, 1+1+1 follows the journey of characters who are in the fragile state of leaving behind who they were and on the brink of becoming who they truly should be. The search for self, the predicaments, and ties of family plus the many love stories and bonds of Pat and her clan convey universal values that everyone can relate to. Love doesn’t divide, it adds up.
