Charlie Kane can’t catch a break. As a child, he lost both his pet parakeet and hismother (to an open cage and pancreatic cancer respectively). As a result, he grewinto a man who expects the worse out of life and gets it. But that changes when, bychance, he meets a bright, sunny sprite of a woman named Holly. She buys him newclothes, shows him the joy in life and generally turns him from a dour drip intosomeone finally allowing himself to be happy. Then a bus flattens her before Charlieeyes. In the depths of misery, Charlie opts for suicide. But he can’t even successfullygive up on life. Left with no other choice, he adopts Holly’s ethos of positivity andjust decides to be happy… by ignoring all the bad things in life. But his cynical bestfriend isn’t buying Charlie’s new-found happiness and sets out to save Charlie bymaking him miserable again. But is Charlie actually better off this way? Can delusionbecome reality?
