Anthony (Liu), who grew up in Dalian, has relocated to Melbourne to study for a business degree whilst Ying (Bai), his very best a school friend, has also left China to study in Japan. In the strange environment he finds himself in, Anthony is surrounded by people chasing their dreams and decides to start a blog, recording all of his new experiences. Like many students, he goes to class, works a part-time job and imagines that he’ll go on to live out his parents’ expectations of him. But his job puts him in touch with Australia’s food culture and he discovers a passion for cooking. Switching from finance to a culinary major, he crosses paths with Xuan (Tina Tang), an independent young woman who could succeed anywhere and at anything. For Xuan, Anthony proves to be an endless source of inspiration, which causes her to develop feelings for him. The combination of study and part-time work is demanding and there’s times he feels like quitting. But knowing that Ying, far away in Japan, is fighting for her dreams with the same strength gives Anthony comfort. He shares his new experiences with her but when he receives no response, he decides to take a trip to Japan. It is here that he begins to recognise his true feelings.
