“Shuttle Life” is the debut of short film director (Tan Seng Kiat). It realistically portraits the struggles that a poor family faces in a big city. The natural and superb performances of actor Jack Tan (“Show Me Your Love”, 2016) who played the main character Ah Qiang; and actress Sylvia Chang (“Love Education”, 2017) who played the mentally unstable mother deeply touch the hearts of the audiences. The film won the best film, best cinematography and best actor at Asian New Talent Awards which was announced at Shanghai Film Festival.Ah Qiang (Jack Tan) lives in the big city and struggles to take care of his mentally-unstable mother Li Jun (Sylvia Chang) and his 5-year-old sister, Hui (Angel Chan). Ah Qiang and her sister are not biologically related as Hui was an abandoned child. Li Jun found her in an alley and adopted her when she was a baby. When a speeding car kills Hui in an accident, Ah Qiang is desperate to claim his sister’s body. Unfortunately, he is not able to prove his relation with Hui as Hui was never registered at birth. Ah Qiang’s mother is no help either given her condition, and Ah Qiang is forced to face this predicament on his own.
