Ten years ago, Lu Qinyang (Qu) confessed his love for Ling Yiyao (Zhang) in front of the whole school. Later, when entering the workforce, he struggles to provide for himself and his girlfriend. However, he tries to earn as much as he can, all for the day when they can marry. Yiyao finds him admirable so she chooses to stay by his side even though her family objects to the relationship. But time and again Qinyang cannot fulfil his promise to give her a better life and, at his wits’ end, he unwillingly gives up the relationship. A few years later, Yiyao contacts Qinyang to tell him she plans to marry another man. Now living faraway, Qinyang desperately wants to get Yiyao back before it’s too late.
