Three years old and suffering heart disease, Chan Tin Mei (Cheng) and Ho Bun’s (Luk) son suddenly passes away. In pain over the loss, Mei resists having another child. As time moves on, Mei decides to make a career out of fostering. Over the next two decades she takes in a string of children, her desolate heart finding sustenance from the feeling of once again being a mother.
