Two years have passed since Michio Iruma (Takenouchi) left the first criminal court (“Ichikei”) of the Tokyo District Court. Transferred to Setouchi in Okayama Prefecture, he has been assigned an assault case involving Japan’s youngest ever Minister of Defense. Meanwhile, Chizuru Sakama (Kuroki), who tried numerous lawsuits with Michio, is serving as a lawyer in a neighbouring town. She has taken on a case involving a large company which provides employment to many of the area’s residents. The two cases seem totally unrelated, but all is not as it seems…
