Synopsis

Unlike other age groups in the CIS and Europe, contemporary Ukrainian youth (the so-called, Independence generation of the 1990s) does not have its cinema. So far all attempts targeted at creating new Ukrainian cinematography have been hopeless. Ironically, for the last twenty years there have been evident growing expectations as to the Ukrainian cinematographic breakthrough comparable to the one in the Balkans and Romania with their flourishing filmmaking.
In September 2009 a launching group of the young Ukrainian directors – not supported by investors and the government – has announces a start of the new project: a challenging collection of provocative short films for adults only about ‘people living nearby’. The new project might be considered as an antipode to the caramel-style multi-national series of films appearing in many countries in the aftermath of the “Paris, I love you”.
