Synopsis

The San Sebastian Jazz Festival, now known as the Heineken Jazzaldia, summarizes its 50 year history in the documentary #jazzaldia50 thru the testimonies of some of its main characters and images of some extraordinary concerts that will always be part of the life of the Festival.

With its 50 editions, the San Sebastian Jazz Festival is Spain's oldest festival and is also among the oldest in Europe. All the big names of jazz, with no exception, have been in San Sebastian, some of them several times. So the documentary is not only the history of the Festival, but that of all contemporary jazz.

The documentary produced by Morgancrea and co-produced by the Spanish Television, Euskal Telebista and Donostia Kultura, was written and directed by Carlos Rodríguez. The length of the documentary is 56 minutes.
To carry out the documentary, they had more than fifty interviews with musicians, promoters, journalists, supporters and fans, and recovered graphics and audiovisual archives that remained, in many cases, unpublished.

Among the musicians interviewed the list includes Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin, Stanley Clarke, John Scofield, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dave Holland, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Nicholas Payton, Bugge Wesseltoft, Enrico Rava and Nicholas Payton.
