Synopsis
"Being free in Hausen" - is this year's motto for the seminar week that 7 women want to experience in an idyllic farmhouse. And it actually seems as if the women here can rediscover themselves together. But what happens when different generations and different concepts of life collide unfiltered? THERE IS A HAUSEN EVERYWHERE humorously dissects the excitement-madness of a society in which opinions no longer serve as communication.
In fact, it initially seems as if the women can rediscover themselves here together. They sing around the campfire, swim in the pond, grill and drink wine together, drive tractor, talk about menopause, open relationships and drooping eyelids.
But when the first ones dream of a mysterious singer at night, FRANZI's brother KARSTEN and her father ERICH show up, and the cake meal degenerates into a family argument, the harmonious coexistence begins to fall apart: out of the bubble, right into the confrontation. The search for those to blame for everything that happens in the house begins: who staged the forest bathing that ended in disaster? Who made the incriminating video of LUISA? What was really in the pills that FRANZI handed out to help to fall asleep? And who hired DJ LOL to entertain them all?
Freedom, it turns out, has many facets, and the harmony in Hausen is fragile – when excitement is too high, cheerfulness turns to ecstasy, uncertainty turns to panic, and annoyance turns to anger.
This film was made as a collective direction, i.e. all the actors designed their roles, costumes and make-up themselves on set and the scenes where developed together. The script served as a framework. On set, we first sat down together and discussed the respective scene. Some texts were shortened, added to or rewritten because both the story and the characters developed further during filming. In order to be able to convey the spirit of the seminar as authentically as possible, we filmed as chronologically as possible. Many of us didn't know each other before, just like the characters who meet in the seminar. Each group has its own dynamic. Ours was a living structure that was not controlled by just one person but was allowed to develop freely with the help of the dramaturgy of the story.
