Synopsis

In 2005,Janez Drnovsek, former president of Slovenia made contact with human rights activist Kriznar, concerning an ambitious peace plan for the region. So far, 300 thousand people have died in the conflict, two million people have taken flight and there is a lack of water, medicine and food. A humanitarian disaster that should be solvable, Drnovsek thought.
Kriznar travelled to the war zone in 2006 to plead for peace with rebel leaders of the Sudanese Liberation Army. On his mission, he talks to traumatised refugees; his findings can be heard via satellite phone. While he moves on with his handheld camera, at risk of his life, Kriznar comes across an oasis with water in the desert of Darfur. 'Nów I understand what Darfur is all about. It's the water!' A theme, he claims, that will become a global issue. Meanwhile, a Slovenian newscast keeps us informed about the peace negotiations. Various rebels refuse to sign because their human rights are still violated. Besides, Drnovsek finds out that other countries and industries benefit from the continuation of the conflict. On-screen texts provide extra background information on Darfur.
