Synopsis

In 2032, a few months after the billennium from Christ death, in a middle east archaeological excavation, financed by an American university, the discovery of a byzantine object datable the VIII/IX century causes great surprise between the archaeologists.
On this object appears engraved the face of Christ, exact reproduction of the face of the Sindone of Turin, the most important and discussed relic of the whole Christianity.
In spite of all doubts and derisions of her colleagues, a young Italian archaeologist subjects the new discovered face to scientific comparison by overlapping with polarized light, discovering that this new face has more than 250 congruency points with the one of the Sindone.
The meaning of the test is only one: the dating of the Holy Shroud done by the Commission in 1988, according to the C14 method, is wrong. The possibility of a coincidence is so remote as to be excluded. The byzantine craftsman who produced that object (around 850 a.D.) saw and could study at his ease the face of the Shroud Man. The consequences are so strong to ignore them or to lie. So, in the Bisanzio of the VIII/IX century the face of the Man of the Shroud was well known and venerated, in spite of the middle age dating of the Turin Shroud.
Around the Holy Shroud and its authenticity dark and conflicting forces move, forces that are present not only in the world, but also in the church; the young archaeologist is looking for the help of a professor of the University of Trieste who dedicated his life and academic career to demonstrate that the C14 dating is substantially untruthful.
The news that the girl (and the professor) are trying to interest scientific and ecclesiastics environments (at the highest levels) to the new evidence that belies the dating of C14 of the Shroud trigger the immediate reaction of very well-structured American agnostic environments who come to hire assassins to get rid of the "inconvenient" archaeological find.
The struggle without quarter will be unleashed around the find and its interpretation. It is in substance the great ancient struggle between good and evil in contending the dominion of the world and the heart of man.
God and his opposite.
Perhaps to many, even within the Church, "it is convenient" for the Shroud to be called a medieval artefact; because the tactile evidence of the death (and resurrection) of Christ would pose huge problems both within the mass of believers and in relation to other religions.
The artefact originating from the Middle East excavation will eventually be removed from the young archaeologist and to her partner; however, a final twist will pave the way for a possible future recovery.
Because as long as there will be only one man on earth, good and evil will contend for his possession.
The film unfolds like a thriller to the Da Vinci Code way, but, unlike it there is the support of university studies that asserts and refute the results obtained by C14.
