In the Showa period in 1961, they married by arrangement only 5 days after they first met. Nunoe left her hometown in Tottori over to Tokyo for her new life with Shigeru. What she found was nothing to do with modern and rich life in Tokyo, but instead, the life of an extreme poverty. Going to a pawnshop, looking for some grass they can eat .. to somehow make up for living… Shigeru was always in his room devoting himself in writing. Without understanding what Shigeru is like, nor about his scary looking manga (Yokai creatures: Japanese fairy creatures) their life has started in an awkward way. Shigeru’s manga was not welcomed by the publisher and they say “Dark manga like this is not selling”. And they only paid the manuscript fee a half of what was committed. Shigeru did not know what else to write and says “If nobody cares about Yokai creatures, fine! I would rather commit a suicide with them.” Nunoe was feeling disgusted, upset and trying to make the life better, and her side, there was always Shigeru writing manga giving all his energy and spirit into it. Gradually a strong feeling begins to grow in Nunoe that all these work will never be useless that someday his work will be popular…
