Lea is an extraordinary chef with a cocaine problem. A self-indulgent genius. Rejected by her parents, she has lived her life from day to day, faithful only to the Art of Cooking. Harsh and uncaring of most social norms, the only people she has any respect for are her peers and comrades in the kitchen, trusted allies in a male-dominated world.Hoping to be awarded a second Michelin star, Lea enlists the help of Kasparov, russian magnate and small-time criminal with an appreciation for good cuisine. While using her restaurant as a front, Kasparov also provides her drugs. Lea’s self-destructive spiral reaches its apex with the re-apparition of Lucien, her deceased mentor and former lover. Lucien provokes and torments her, going from ally to adversary with each moment, seemingly unseen by anybody else. Amidst all of this, Lea’s estranged daughter Viola is revealed to be working as one of Kasparov’s girls.Hoping to drag both herself and her daughter out of trouble, Lea attempts to clean up, while trying to balance her restaurant and her rapidly increasing fame as a chef.“A chef has to become a perfect creature from brain to palate, from palate to fingertips.”Perhaps not.
