Synopsis
Bill (Bilby) lives a solitude life in Santa Cruz, a caravan park in a remote part of the country. Serving ice cream, trips to the supermarket, playing keyboard and listening to Mason, (his 8 year old assistant) talk about astronauts is about as much adventure his routine life permits him… Oh wait, he also has a goldfish called Lucy.
Life, for lack of a better word is pretty mundane.
However, all this changes with a phone call from an old love. Not any old love, but THE love of HIS life. Molly.
Soon enough Molly has set in motion the internal battle we all struggle with when having to confront our past mistakes and pursuit to bettering ourselves.
An open invitation from Molly via a neglected voice note sets in motion the road trip of a lifetime for Bill. Taking with him the advice of Mason ‘if it bothers you, you should do something about it’ and Percy, a long lost friend ‘fix what you broke the most before it’s too late’. Bill sets off searching for new horizons.
The journey itself unfolds through two timelines; Bill already on the road, reflecting on all behind him, with a keen eye on the future… And the characters he has met and yet to meet, with the story unfolding as a reflection of a life lived.
From overhearing stories in a café, meeting a 60 year old escort at a hospital, breaking down roadside, and literally bumping into a younger version of himself, Bill’s trip reopens his heart to, allowing him to forgive himself and say ‘I am sorry’ to the person he loved the most.
