The Strawberry Jam is the story of Mrs. Doodle, a ’90s housewife frugal in every possible way. She’s frugal with her family’s groceries (they’re on a budget); with her diet (she’s trying to lose weight); and with her own desires (whatever everybody else wants is fine). During a thrifty shopping trip to a most unusual grocery store, she finds herself tempted by a jar of gourmet strawberry jam . . . . When her menacing husband inevitably ruins her careful plans, Mrs. Doodle decides to make room for herself in the family budget--one way or another.
