The Chechen War. 2000. Carole, a European Union Human Rights worker trying to gather evidence of the terrible conflict, encounters Hadji, a 9-year-old boy who refuses to speak. Deeply traumatized by the horrors he has witnessed, he believes he is the only member of his family to have survived – but his sister Raïssa is very much alive and searching for her two brothers. Kolia is a 20-year-old Russian, a young man taken, shaped, dehumanized by the military and transformed into a soldier capable of killing civilians without remorse.
