Based on the long running sequels written by a popular mystery novelist, Ranpo Edogawa, Kobayashi, a son of the great detective is obsessed with a legendary thief “Fiend with Twenty Faces”. After ten years, the thief suddenly appears in front of Kobayashi, but mysterious incidents start to occur.

Yoshio Kobayashi is a familiar character to fans of Edogawa Ranpo’s “Youth Detective Brigade.” Together with his sleuthing partner, Kogoro Akechi, the two have solved enigmas for over 4 generations (to today’s great grandson level). In this film, protagonist Yoshirou Kobayashi has been obsessed since childhood with legendary thief of the century and eternal rival of Yoshio and Kogoro: The Fiend Twenty with Faces (Phantom of 20 Faces). But a certain incident compels Yoshirou to suppress his long-harbored passion toward this nemesis. 10 years pass, and Yoshirou, now a senior high school student, one day is surprised by the sudden reappearnce of the masked The Fiend Twenty with Faces, who comes with a cryptic message: “The promised time is upon you” before vanishing again. What “promise” is this? A subsequent series of strange and mysterious events occur around Yoshirou. There is the “blue blanket man” disturbance - the middle school student vanishing, the sudden appearance of a mystery electric man. And then, Yoshirou discovers a latent power stirring to life which he himself was not aware of. Coming to the embattled Yoshirou’s aid are long-time intriguing friends such as Saya and Watari. Throwing themselves fully into a new tangle of mystery, the Boy Detectives Club returns to save the day.
