Synopsis

Shinichi and Chikako Ohara have been married for almost 50 years, just before their golden anniversary. Shinichi has been retired for ten years or so. He is an old-fashioned "man of the house" type who can't find peace with his wife lately. They argue over almost everything. Chikako deals with this by not taking him seriously. As a way of escape, she goes to her chorus group every day. Their single daughter, Aya, still lives with them. Most of the time she takes Chikako's side in arguments much to Shinichi's frustration. When he is with his mahjong friends, he has a chance to vent about his wife.
Aya has a catering business. One day Ryota Sugano visits her food van for lunch. He hands Aya a flier for an "end-of-life" promotional event. It turns out that Ryota is a funeral agent. Aya shows the flier to her mom whose views on life alter after she attends the event. She learns that end-of-life planning is not about death but about reevaluating one's life to enhance the time we have left. Chikako is so impressed that she agrees to a memorial video of her life being made by Ryota's agency. Her decision infuriates Shinichi. He hates the idea of end-of-life planning as he thinks it's morbid and he takes it out on Ryota. His attitude, in turn, enrages Chikako. After a particularly intense argument, Chikako goes to her chorus group. Then she collapses. Is this the end of their marriage? Will they have a chance to live the remainder of their days in contentment...?
