Synopsis

Sixties in Czechoslovakia. Rock 'n' roll blasting from the radio, miniskirts and student revolts are changing the world.
Tomáš starts a new job at a prestigious radio station only to find himself caught up in a dangerous game between the editors and the secret service. A compromising recording and everyone's lives are at stake. The protagonist faces a difficult choice: must he sacrifice his brother or his colleagues fighting for the truth? Jiří Mádl's new film „The Waves“ is based on previously unpublished true stories of journalists from Czechoslovak Radio. Their determination and commitment to deliver independent news at all costs continues to inspire even today...
