A Swiss couple is expecting a child through surrogacy in Tbilisi, Georgia. When doubts about their baby’s health arise, they face a difficult moral decision.

HANNA (42) and MICHAEL (46) desperately long for a baby and spare no effort in fulfilling their dream. Surrogacy is their last hope. Since it is prohibited in Switzerland, they have their child carried out by a surrogate in Georgia while pretending to be pregnant at home. Excitedly, Hanna and Michael travel to Tbilisi for the second ultrasound examination, visiting their surrogate mother, MARIAM (23), at a clinic on the city’s outskirts. She is five months pregnant.During the ultrasound, they learn that they are expecting a girl. However, their joy is quickly overshadowed. The doctor discovers a heart defect in the fetus. Subsequent examinations reveal that the unborn child has a rare heart condition. Hanna and Michael are deeply shaken by the news. The agency director confronts them with the difficult decision of whether or not to abort the child in the surrogate’s womb. Michael cannot imagine raising a child with a heart condition. However, Mariam desperately appeals to Hanna to keep the child.
