Withdrawn teenager TOM and his mother ELAINE have been forced to relocate to a dilapidated farmhouse. There, Tom discovers the remains of an infant in a seasonal lake, and conceals them among his belongings. After Elaine befriends neighbour WARD, Tom is drawn to his daughter HOLLY, whoimmediately intuits that he has found the remains of the infant. Tom and Holly become closer, as she offers him the friendship and understanding missing from his home life. Eventually, Holly confesses that the infant was hers and Ward’s. She appeals for Tom’s helpin killing Ward so that she can escape their abusive relationship. However, while Tom makes an attempt on Ward’s life, Holly leaves without him. Realising the truth about Ward, Elaine intervenes to save Tom.
