Third grade high school student Chinatsu Akazawa (Rie Kitahara) attends a public preparatory school. All the students in the third grade are to participate in a training camp. On the first day of the camp, Chinatsu’s homeroom teacher announces that the whole class is going to play the game “Old Maid”. The camp is being held as a trial for the game, which has been developed to enhance students’ “Human Power” under the Extension of Compulsory Education Act put in force by the government in response to concerns about the declining IQ of Japanese students. But in this game of “Old Maid”, losing means death. Shaken by the absurd fate that has befallen them, what decisions will the students make, as they confront both life and death for the first time?
