Synopsis

In the spirit of the Swedish movies “A man called Ove” and “The hundred-year-old…” comes another story about a grumpy old man, based on a true story. The Swedish movie “Lars and the Baron” was screened at Gothenburg’s International Film Festival as well as 100 theaters across Sweden. The movie is based on the true story about the hunter Lasse in the Mountain, rebelling against society and power, fighting for his right to hunt.

Leading stars are Niklas Falk and Ylva Lööf, known for their great performances in both “As It Is In Heaven” and “Heaven On Earth”. Co-starring are several well renowned Swedish actors, like Lennart Hjulström (Hamilton: In The Interest Of The Nation), Gunilla Nyroos (Shed No Tears), Ingemar Carlehed (Heaven´s Heart) and Sven-Åke Gustavsson (Simon & the Oaks). Also featured is rising stars Simeon DaCosta Maya, Klas Wiljergård and Börje Lundberg, all part of the cast in Academy Award nominated movie “A man called Ove”.

The movie is equally dramatic and romantic and shows a love for the beautiful nature surrounding the story. It is told in the naïve art spirit, with makes the movie joyful to watch. It features elements of grumpy old men, power hungry landowners, hunting parties and newly composed folk music.
