After years of hospitalization for alcoholism, a pop singer forces her son to swear to her that he will never allow her to spend his life in an institution. When doctors diagnose her with permanent brain damage, 20-year-old Adam, deaf and alone, must decide whether to break his mother's promise or help her to die. Only after an encounter with a pregnant girl, does Adam find the answer to his dilemma.
