Gaetano is a quiet young man who runs a bakery in a Sicilian town. Although his bread is much appreciated, the boy with a Sicilian mother and a French father has never been fully accepted there. When his older brother dies committing a crime, Gaetano takes on the responsibility of burying him next to his mother. But in the village, the weight of tradition is omnipotent, causing him to defend his family's honor, even if it puts his life in danger.
