Julen Askar is a well-known Basque orthopedist, in Medellin as part of a mission his foundation has undertaken: to set up a factory making prostheses for victims of anti-personnel mines in Colombia. The first beneficiary of this program is to be Tamara Restrepo, a Colombian ex-guerilla fighter turned advocate for peace, who half the country wants to lynch. After a long wait, the authorities give him the green light to go ahead with his project, ignoring the possibility that behind his apparent good intentions lies an intricately woven plan for revenge.
