Synopsis
CECILIA (40) is a sociology teacher at the University. She is preparing an exam to occupy a higher-ranked position in her chair. She has been divorced for a few months and lives with her son JUAN (8).
One stormy night, Cecilia wakes up, startled. Someone is knocking at her door. She carefully approaches the door and notices that someone is trying to break in. Through the window, she sees that it's KEVIN (15) —a poor young man, the son of the maid who works in her house.- The situation is baffling, the boys seems to be beaten up and in need of help. Scared, Cecilia hides until Franco goes away, running, terrified, lost in the darkness of the night.
The next day, Kevin's body emerges in the river. Several witnesses are consistent that he was murdered by two police officers who used to harass him. Cecilia is very upset, however she refrains herself from telling NEBE (32), the maid, what happened the night before.
From that moment on, Cecilia begins to feel that Kevin's ghost is in her house.
Distraught, she neglects her duties and begins to feel awkward about her teaching job. When the ghost starts to occupy her son's room and she feels that this might endanger him, she goes to Nebe's house in order to confess what happened and offer her help in the law proceedings. Nebe gets mad and kicks her out. Cecilia, torn apart by this meeting, goes back.
A few days later, Cecilia sits for her exam to secure a higher teaching position at the University. Although she gets it, the situation, far from comforting her, further accentuates her distress.
Kevin's ghost never shows up again. Now she seems to be the ghost.
