Inspired by actual events, the first story that's interwoven is a lyrical portrait of a young Latino (Jeremy Ray Valdez) with Asperger’s Syndrome, journeying through New York City's labyrinth-like subway system despite the city wide search for him. Through his observations and quiet encounters, he discovers a subterranean world where connections are amiss among the multitude. The second story focuses more intimately on the rare emotional connections made in an alienating city. Peppered in allegory, the story involves an older Ecuadorian driver from Queens and his random encounter with a young Chinese woman who is stranded. Offering the desperate woman a ride home to her sick child in Chinatown sets the stage for the events that follow in which their bonds are revealed despite linguistic and cultural barriers.
