Muazzez lives in Antalya with her Alzheimer father. When she hears that those who can’t answer query angels’ questions upon death are sent to hell, she gets worried. She needs to remind her father of his past.“You were the chief. The mayor of a remote city…”1977… Aziz, mayor for two terms, has just lost his third election. He lives with his wife and daughters, tending his magnificent garden. The city people either barge into the garden to steal fruit or send the girls love letters. Muazzez catches one of these boys one night. It’s Ozgur, handsome as the men in photo-novellas and he smells different. Shampoo, he says.From here on the adventure resumes with marriages, military coups, un-ending civil war, migration, fervors and disappointments… It tells the life cycle of a family tree and asks: should the green, wild sour apples be vaccinated into standard, red, sweet apples? Or better to let them stay sour?
