Ventotene is a very small island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, where, since the 1920s, people were confined in complete isolation because of their ideas. Ventotene is however a paradox, because from this place of exclusion, the idea of the European Union started to grow. Today, starting from the new artwork by French artist Daniel Buren (“Un Manifesto Colorato - A Colored Manifesto” - 2020), the documentary wants to bring European discussions back on the island, to look back at the past, but at the same time to think about how the future could look like. In order to do so, 7 young European activists (one from each founding member, plus one representative from the UK, due to the Brexit debate) have come to Ventotene to engage with the history of the island and to discuss how they could shape the future.
