As children, Pietro and Bruno daringly explore the abandoned houses of the mountain village, roam through shady valleys on endless summer days, follow the torrent to its source. As adults, the paths of the two friends separate: one will never leave the village and tries to revive his uncle's cheese dairy, the other is pushed out into the wide world, magically drawn to ever higher peaks. The invisible bond between them always brings Pietro back home, but they have long since disagreed as to where happiness in life can be found. Can their friendship still survive?
