Climate activist Xochitl (Ariela Barer) has recently become an orphan following the death of her mother caused by an extreme heatwave. Disillusioned by the changes that her fight against the climate crisis seems to be causing, she turns to sabotage and destruction of environmentally harmful property such as cars and yachts. Teaming up with other like-minded activists, she embarks on a new mission to amplify their protests: the explosion of an oil pipeline in West Texas."How to Blow Up a Pipeline" is a very current ecological thriller that takes the form of a sabotage film. It is reminiscent of New Hollywood thrillers from the 70s. The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and is based on Andreas Malm's controversial non-fiction book of the same name.
