How can anyone write a love story when his own love experience is a disaster? Why doesn’t life follow the patterns of romantic comedies? What are the differences between reality and fiction? These and others constitute the dilemmas facing Argentine scriptwriter Pablo Diuk who has been asked to write a romantic comedy to be filmed in Spain, because “he lived in Madrid for some time, is fast and he isn’t going to charge us in Euros,” says one of the Argentine producers while reviewing the required legal conditions to make the film. Pablo begins the first outlines of the story of Victor and Marina, both from Madrid, who have all it takes to experience a lovely romantic comedy: they are young, single, good-looking, and feel attracted to each other. However, they have a serious problem: the creator of their story and the difficult times he is going through. We will see the main character, in two parallel plots and venues, Madrid and Buenos Aires, struggling against the spirit of the creator, as Pablo uses the story as a tool for settling scores and a refuge to protect himself from the disasters of his day-to-day life. His response to his daily defeat will be his imagination as he flees into a world of fantasy.
