Synopsis
Victoria has, voluntarily, left the North of Italy to begin a career as a magistrate in Lamezia Terme (in the South of Italy), with the sole mission of defeating the ' Ndrangheta. Assunta, however, is forced to stay in the ' Ndrangheta , even if they killed her husband and now has to marry his brother, Nando . Caterina, Assunta's older sister, helps her to prepare for the wedding, she controls the family business while her husband Alfredo Raso, the boss, is a fugitive. Bending to the will of Alfred and, ultimately, to that of her sister, is the only way that Assunta has to protect her two sons: the four year old Franceschino and the teenager Giuseppe, who already has the makings of a leader. The same night of Assunta's wedding, in fact, the boy, with Nando, goes at the home of Vittoria to wreck her car, but while he manages to escape on foot among the houses, Nando is immediately arrested. Here at last has a first concrete runway for Vittoria, which dates back soon to Giuseppe, but nothing happens in the various interviews that follow, first the boy, then Nando: both are silent, but Victoria does not give up. Alfredo, however, appreciate more and more the air of Giuseppe and finally decides to initiate him to the ' Ndrangheta, as the bodyguard of his son, Pasquale.
Vittoria is witnessing a war difficult to stop, what is consumed between the family of the Rasos and the Macris, the powerful rivals: a conflict in which even those who are in prison, as Nando, can't be protected, a battle in which often are the younger that ones who dies. Vittoria realizes that the blood of Giuseppe could be the next to be paid. So, with a sudden insight, Vittoria announces to Assunta that she will take away her parental rights. To her and to all the mothers who send their children to die. Unfortunately, Vittoria came too late: Giuseppe has lost his life during an attack intended to his cousin Pasquale. For Assunta this is a mortal blow and decides to cooperate, perhaps more to get back to his sister. It is thus discovered the bunker in which he hides Alfredo and proceed to the arrests. Assunta is put under protection and Vittoria moved to live in the barracks, where it will be safer. Caterina, however, can go unpunished, despite open threats that launches a traitor to his sister during the last interview with Vittoria. Maybe it was just won a battle, the end of the war is still far away, but for Vittoria this is the beginning of a new journey .
