In a gigantic community on a Brazilian periphery called “Grande Sertão” the struggles between police and bandits took on the air of a real war bringing the common questions to the epic genre: loyalty, life and death, love, courage etc. Riobaldo, regenerated bandit, is the story's narrator. He turned to crime out of love for Diadorim, but never had the courage to reveal his passion for a man.
