Based on Renato Russo’s song, the movie narrates the story of João do Santo Cristo, a man from the countryside who moves to Brasília and ends up involved with drug dealing. As he gets more engaged to the life of crime, he falls in love and meets up with his biggest enemy.

Joao was a child when he witnessed his father being killed by a police officer. After his mother’s death, he starts his journey to scape from poverty, even though his mission costs him being involved with murders, arrests and the job as a drug dealer, service that provides in Brasilia to Pablo, his distant cousin. When he becomes a well-succeeded drug dealer and conquers Maria Lucia, Joao attract the hatred of young rich, specially Jeremias, that heads the local drug dealing business with the support of the corrupt officer officer Marco Aurelio.Maria Lucia decides to marry Jeremias in exchange of survival of the man she loves, but the union rises even more the hatred in Joao, that escapes from prison and challenges his rival for one last duel.
