Synopsis

Gabriele’s father, a railway stationmaster in a small Italian
town, was a frustrated painter all his life. The resulting mood
swings, taken out on Gabriele’s mother and on the peace and
quiet of an otherwise untroubled family, were the only
blemishes in the boy’s childhood. To cope, Gabriele would
spend time with a carefree bachelor uncle or give rein to his
own vivid fantasy. But when Gabriele comes back home for his
father’s funeral, he discovers a truth from the forgotten past
that radically changes his opinion of his eccentric parent.
